📌 You only need a doctor’s note (fit note) if you are unable to work and have been ill for longer than seven calendar days. If your illness lasts seven days or less, you do not need a fit note—your employer should provide you with an SC2 self-certification form instead.
📌 If you require a fit note within the first seven days of illness, this falls outside NHS requirements and will attract a private sick note fee.

💡 SSP Eligibility Reminder:
- SSP is paid by employers for up to 28 weeks for those eligible.
- SSP starts from the first day of illness if you are unfit to work.
- If your illness extends beyond 28 weeks, you may need to apply for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
